At Itinera TNG (developed by e4you), we respect your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data, emphasizing that your personal travel history and media remain stored locally on your device.
1. Location Data (Foreground and Background)
Itinera TNG is a navigation and exploration app. To provide its core features, we require access to your location:
- Precise Location: Used to show your position on the map, provide real-time navigation instructions, and calculate distances.
- Background Location: When you enable "Wandering Mode" or start a "Guided Route," the app collects location data to trigger proximity alerts and provide audio descriptions of nearby sights, even when the app is closed or not in use.
- User Control: You can enable or disable location tracking at any time within the app settings or your device's system settings.
2. Activity Recognition
The app uses the Physical Activity permission to detect your movement (e.g., walking, cycling, or traveling in a vehicle). This allows us to:
- Optimize battery life by adjusting the GPS sampling rate.
- Pause pedestrian tracking when you are stationary or in a motorized vehicle.
3. Media and Files (Camera and Gallery)
- Personalization: You can choose to replace system drawings of points of interest (POIs) with your own photos.
- Local Storage: All photos you take or select from your gallery are stored locally on your device. We do not upload your photos to our servers.
4. Personal and Private Data
- No Centralized Storage: Your visited locations, earned scores, and travel journals are stored exclusively in a local database on your device.
- No Identity Tracking: We do not require a user account to use the app. We do not collect your name, email, or contact information for our own use.
5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties. However, we use the following essential services to provide map functionality:
- MapLibre & OpenStreetMap: To render maps and calculate routes.
- Cloudflare: To deliver map assets and region updates to your device.
- Google Play Billing: All financial transactions for the "Travel Pass" are handled securely by Google Play. We do not see or store your credit card information.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- User Ownership: Since your data is stored locally, you have full control over it.
- Manual Deletion: You can delete your travel history, photos, or the entire app data at any time through your device settings.
- Persistence: Deleting a map region for space-saving purposes will not delete your personal progress (visited sites and scores); this data remains safe on your device for when you reload the region.
7. Security
We use industry-standard encryption for data transmitted during the download of map assets. Locally stored data is protected by the Android operating system's application sandbox.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy within the app or on the Google Play Store page.
